In most cases datagroup catalog items are correctly mapped by the parent datagroup type. Therefore each datagroup catalog item inherits the mapping from the datagroup type of its parent.

In some cases it may be necessary to override the inherited mapping, as when certain wall catalog items are mapped to IfcCurtainWall for example. This is done in the Map DataGroup Types and Properties to IFC dialog, by expanding the datagroup type to display the catalog items.
